A Futures contract is an agreement to sell an asset at some point in the future at a price that is determined today.

These contracts are especially relevant to retail traders today because of their widespread use in the cryptocurrency space.

So the question that suggests itself is, Are cryptocurrency futures halal or haram?

There are numerous ways in which Haram can enter a crypto futures transaction:

1- Interest (riba)
2- Buying/Selling the futures contract
3- Cash settlement of the futures contract

In this video I explain exactly how these elements can corrupt a futures contract.

  1. Walaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh Brother,
Anytime I'm in doubt I just refer to your videos…Trust me it's a great help for Muslims who want to earn in halal way and according to Shariah Law.
May Allah SWT reward you in both the worlds.
    Thanks Alot,
    Jazak-Allah Khair. 🤗

  2. Thank you a lot for the explanation … i used futures only to set limit for not losing too much… i didn’t use leverage or any loan … and when i bought some amount of crypto, i still have the full control to sell at whatever price i choose and i can redeem it’s money at any time i want … so i use it the same way as spot, but only to set a limit so i don’t keep watch for hours .. so I’m not obligated to sell at a contracted price … what is this considered .. if someone is knowledgeable please help

  3. What about the coin m trading in crypto? like on binance , they give us the option of longing or shorting with the coins that we already have , and not the cash , so is that halal or haram?? Please do reply. Thank you

  4. I still dont get it. I think of future as spot. The only difference i find is the leverage. And no one is forcing me to sell it except for the liquidation price which I can control by investing more money when it gets closer to that price point. So there is no gambling for a person who has more money. The only two things that remain to cover are leverage and interest. And i came here to clear that.

  5. you can not even do trade on an asset that has not been produced yet. As it entails a factor of probability- (refer to Ashur's Treaties of Law.)
Also you say, at 4:08 "it's as if a bet is placed" referring to receiving cash for a bitcoin settlement. This is true, yet- clearly you assume if you received bitcoin's it would halal? no. any bitcoin that is exchanged on a platform that allows you to gable with futures, never gives you ownership of the bitcoin anyways. Only if you pull out your bitcoin from an exchange to a cold wallet, it is a real bitcoin that you have. (bitcoin is not a "coin," ownership of a coin means possessing the private keys- 12 or 24 words you- all coins are on the bitcoin blockchain.) Therefore, before withdrawal from an exchange you buy and sell the price of a coin like an ETF, rather than the asset itself. Also gambling can be done with bitcoin as well, as lighting network bitcoin casino's exist.

  6. Assalamualaikum, I want to know if we trade crypto on SPOT but we use small time frame. Buy at low and sell at high after a few minutes or hours it gaining with some technical analysis and fundamental analysis methods we used. It can or not? Please, I want to know about it.

  7. Short is haram, future is haram, option is haram.. Muslim doesn’t have any way to make money in a bear market??
But fill the pockets of the short seller by selling my asset is fine?
    Any thoughts?

  8. السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
    Is leverqge tradind Halal
If we buy a coin with 5x leverage its mean that profit or loss will be multiply with 5

  9. Assalamu alaykum my bro, I really love the work you are doing to help us better our financial breadth. I have a question that I would love to see answered in a video regarding the shariah compliancy and permissability of investing in Leveraged ETFs. An example of a leveraged ETF would $TQQQ. Could you address this? jazakAllah Khayr!

  10. Hello! I wanna ask, which trading platform do you use to trade/invest? Also, if on the trading platform, I put the leverage as 1:1, that is, I'm bearing the cost of the entire thing, would that be okay to trade? Because there would be no interest bein charged.

  11. Aslamucalaykum: I would like to ask you questions it’s haram or halal I’m taking some platform courses from online YouTube ads specialist on certificate or advertising google ads I’ve already knew these platforms aren’t permissible slamic rules principles forex and drop shipping
